Las Palmas Carnaval, celebrated since the 15th century, revived in 1976, has grown into a vibrant three-week celebration. Following the end of Franco's regime, Manolo García of La Isleta secured permission to bring the festivities back to the streets, ending a 40-year prohibition. The first costume parade marked the return of public celebrations, organized by the newly formed Patronato del Carnaval. Today, where tradition meets vibrancy, the event features colorful parades, lively music, and elaborate costumes, with people dressing up to celebrate cultural heritage, creativity, and community spirit, making it one of Spain's most significant festivals.
