Cuba Skate is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Havana, Cuba. They operate in compliance with the American and Cuban governments and maintain unique permissions with the U.S. State Department to fund and operate humanitarian programs in Cuba.
Skateboarding brings together communities, drawing young people and helping them develop skills and perseverance.
Cuba Skate also transforms neglected spaces: they are working with Cuban officials to build the island’s first official skatepark and expect it to be complete in 2019. They converts abandoned areas into safe spaces for skateboarding: these community centers are designed and built by local Cubans with international skateboarders and volunteers.
